The Park can be explored at a leisurely pace by those staying in the luxurious chalets at the foot of the plateau, or the more adventurous can test their mettle by camping at the base of the plateau and embarking on the trying 3-day hiking route that will turn up not only modern beasts, but also the footprints of dinosaurs.

Short Overview

Rising roughly 200m above the surrounding savannah, the vibrant red sandstone of the Waterberg Plateau was once home to dinosaurs, and still retains some of its ancient mystery to this day. Atop the plateau is lush sub-tropical woodland, verdancy that comes in stark contrast to the relative dryness of the surrounding peninsula.
