Samburu National Reserve - Two-day trip from Nairobi

Short Overview

This three-day Kenyan safari explores the Samburu National Reserve, situated on the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro River in Kenya. This means plenty of water, trees and shade to attract wildlife like elephants, lions, giraffes and zebras from the surrounding savannah plains. All three big cats, lions, leopards, and cheetahs are also regularly spotted. The area is home to the Samburu tribe, pastoral relatives of the Maasai.

Samburu has a rugged and dramatic landscape, the river Ewaso Ng'iro runs along the southern boundary and is home to crocodiles and hippos with many animals visiting to drink during the heat of the day.

Species of the game unique to Samburu include the Beisa oryx, the long-necked gerenuk, Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe and the blue shanked Somali ostrich.
