The Leopard tortoise lives in the savannas of Eastern and SouthernAfrica.  The African tortoise typically lives 80 to 100 years.Theyare herbivorous.Like most of tortoises, they can retract their head and feet into their shell in defense when threatened.

 They can climb and go underwater for up to 10 minutes.
