NOTEBOOK ON CITIES AND CLOTHES
Directed by Wim Wenders
An intimate portrait of designer Yohji Yamamoto. In 1989, WIM WENDERS (Paris, Texas, Wings of Desire) was commissioned by the Centre Georges Pompidou to make a film about fashion and its place in contemporary society. Initially bemused by the offer, the award-winning director chose to focus on someone whose work he was both familiar with and felt comfortable in, the internationally renowned Japanese designer YOHJI YAMAMOTO.
NOTEBOOK ON CITIES AND CLOTHES gradually transforms from a meditation on our relationship with fashion to an exploration of visual representation, creating a dialogue between the language of fashion and that of film. Both are rapidly changing forms of communication whose progressiveness is often breathtaking. As Yamamoto constantly searches for new modes of expression, Wim Wenders embraces video technology, which offers more flexibility when recording such a fast-paced world. Moving between Tokyo and Paris, from the creation of one collection to its premiere at a fashion show, NOTEBOOK ON CITIES AND CLOTHES is an intimate portrait of one of the world s most influential and visionary fashion designers and an engaging exploration of the visual medium.
YVES SAINT LAURENT L'AMOUR FOU
Directed by Pierre Thoretton
L'Amour Fou is a deeply moving insight into the private life of fashion icon Yves Saint Laurent, and the fifty years he shared with the love of his life, Pierre Bergé.
Throughout their partnership, they were avid collectors of art, spending a large portion of their wealth amassing a collection that would rival the best galleries. Upon Laurent's death in 2008 Bergé decided to sell the couple's beloved collection. It is through this momentous auction, as well as rare archival footage and interviews with those closest to Saint Laurent that the film beautifully depicts his incredible life and the relationship between these two remarkable men.
L'Amour Fou is a wonderful tribute to beauty, elegance, decadence and a man who so perfectly captured all these things.

Following the style guru through both his professional and private life, director Rodolphe Marconi offers an insight into the life of the man behind the image, from designing in private, to presenting his collection in the glare of the catwalk.
