Rwenzori Mountains

Details of Rwenzori Mountains

Tropical bamboo groves, snow-capped peaks, great beards of lichen, vast glaciers, and dark lakes make for one of the most varied climbing environments in Eastern Africa.

Climbing to the summit of Mount Stanley, Africa's third highest mountain behind Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Kenya, can be done in 9 to 10 days, and is a considerably more adventurous climb than Kilimanjaro due to crevasses and heavy snowfall.

Shorter sightseeing treks are also available.
