Offering fantastic views of Kilimanjaro and a large population of African game, Mkomazi is an often overlooked Tanzanian gem with a number of species easier to see here than anywhere else in Tanzania. But the real reason to visit here is in the wildlife sanctuary where you can visit Wild Dogs breeding boma’s and view the rare rhino up close and personal. This in the only place in Tanzania where it is possible to visit the rare and almost extinct rhino.
Animals large and small call the park home, including big cats, silver-backed jackals, kudu, giraffes, Grant's gazelle, hyenas, hartebeest, warthogs, buffaloes, elephants, and zebras.
Mkomazi is the closest national park in the famous Tanzanian Northern Circuit to Zanzibar. With our Mkomazi day trip, you will be able to get a taste of the safari without missing a night on Zanzibar!

DAY 1 - DAR ES SALAAM - UDZUNGWA MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK
Flight or Ferry from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam
With a picnic lunch in tow, you'll make the drive towards the African Galapagos - the Udzungwa Mountains. With a huge variety of endemic wildlife and flora, the park is something unlike anything you'll see elsewhere in Tanzania.
Not a traditional game-drive destination, you'll instead stretch your legs with a guided hike into the mountains, where you'll enjoy a picnic lunch by a waterfall before spending the night in the park.
DAY 2 - UDZUNGWA MOUNTAINS - MIKUMI
After breakfast, you'll make the drive to the Mikumi National Park. Sometimes called the most accessible corner of Selous and sometimes compared favourably to the open plains of the Serengeti, Mikumi is Tanzania's fourth largest national park and a game-viewer's dream.
The Mkata Floodplain is the park's most dominant feature, and it is here that antelope fans will have their best chance to see the powerful Eland in large numbers. Bird watchers will also find a huge variety of feathered favourites within the park, with more than 400 bird species residing within the park's borders.
DAY 3 - MIKUMI - DAR ES SALAAM - ZANZIBAR
You’ll continue your safari adventure with a morning game drive in Mikumi.Late morning proceed driving to Dar Es Salaam where you will take Ferry or flight back to Zanzibar.
