The wildlife population of the Selous Game Reserve is the largest in Africa. Some of the animals of this area are the elephants, African Wild Dog, hippopotamus, crocodile and buffaloes. The park has a very difficult road access but it is easily reachable by train or a small aircraft from Dar es Salaam. Some of the touristic attractions of the Selous Game Reserve are the river Rufiji and the Stiegler canyon. You can even explore this park on a trekking safari.


Itinerary DAY 1: Depart to Selous Game Reserve Depart from Dar es salaam by 4x4 vehicle to the Selous Game reserve. Enjoy a late lunch at the Rufiji river camp. DAY 2: Selous Game reserve Enjoy a full day game viewing in the reserve. Participate in some classic-style game drives exploring the bush in open 4x4 vehicles Selous landscape includes a wide variety of habitats from woodland grassland, opengrasslands, dense thicket, acacia woodland, riverine, ground water forest and miombo woodland.  Water buck , souther reed buck and bushbuck are common in the Selous. Rare sable antelope, lion and greater kudu also frequent this area. Meals and overnight at Rufiji river camp. After breakfast, accompany by an armed ranger on a walking safari in the reserve. The largest River in Tanzania and most magnificent, its labyrinthine network of lagoons, channels, islets and swamps cloaked in extendsive riverine forest, all of which attracts a mind boggling number of bird species.. The sight and sounds and smels of a wlaking safari are special treat that will live long in your memory. The thrill of creeping up to animals to shoot them with your camera is a great experience. In the afternoon enjoy a boat ride safari where you will explore the different channel s and lakes of Rufiji system , surrounded by hippos and crocodiles. A large variety of herons, stork, ducks, stilts, and other watr birds maybe seeb. And you also see land mammals, such as giraffe and elephants. Meals and overnight at Rufiji River camp.

DAY 5: drive to Mikumi National park After breakfast, drive to Mikumi National park with picnic lunch and proceed to vum,a hill camp . The camp is perched above the trees stretching over the seemingly endless wilderness south west of Mikumi national park. The third largest park in Tanzania and is traversed through its middle by the Tanzam Highway that runs between Morogoro and Iringa. The park is best known for its diversity and abundance of wildlife. DAY 6: drive to Ruaha national park After breakfast drive to Ruaha national park which is famous for its rare sable antelope, roan antelope and big herds of Elephant. The park represents a transition zone where eastern and southern African flora and fauna overlap. Lunch at the lodge, then afternoon game drive. Then drive to Ruaha River lodge which is built on a rocky ridge with spectacular view of the great Ruaha river. Ruaha offers fantastic game viewing and the fact that the Ruaha National Park is still rather unknown and has only just been developed for tourists makes it extra special. DAY 8: drive to Mikumi National park After early breakfast, drive to Mikumi National park For some animals (Elephants, Buffaloes and Zebras) it forms a part of the Selous Game Reserve ecosystem. Very rare tree-climbing Lions can be spotted here as well as Giraffes, Elands, Hartebeests, Impalas, Leopards, Warthogs, Wildebeests and African Wild-Dogs. Lunch at Vuma hill tented camp, followed by game viewing in Mikumi National park which is well known for its population of the Elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebra, elands great Kudu, wildebeest roan and sable antelope. Predators includes, lions, leopards, wild hunting dogs and black-backed jackal. You may also see crocodiles, monitor lizards, yellow baboons and hippos. Dinner and overnight at Vuma hill tented camp

DAY 9: After breakfast, drive to Dar for lunch and then transfer to the airport
