A safari need not be a lengthy affair, and we've got the perfect way for you to break up your beach escape with a few days out in the wilderness.
Departing from Zanzibar Airport in the morning, you'll pay a visit to the baobabs and elephant herds of Tarangire - with both afternoon and morning game drives to explore the untamed plains and forests of this often underrated park. Home to Tanzania's largest elephant herds, Tarangire is also a fascinating place for bird-watchers, as well as being home to lions, buffalo, baboons, giraffes, impala, and more.

DAY 1 - ZANZIBAR - ARUSHA - TARANGIRE NP
Flight Zanzibar – Arusha Airport 11:30 - 12:30. Transfer to Tarangire National Park.
You’ll be picked up from your Zanzibar accommodations and taken to Zanzibar Airport for your flight across to Arusha.
Upon arrival in Tanzania’s safari capital, you’ll be met by your Shadows of Africa driver and whisked away to Tarangire National Park. Considered to be Tanzania’s most underrated park, Tarangire is a fascinating landscape of baobab trees, large elephant herds (the largest in Tanzania), baboons, buffalo, lions, impala, giraffes, zebras, and more.
After your afternoon game drive and picnic lunch, you’ll be taken to your overnight accommodations.
After your day's drive is done, you'll retire to your campsite/lodge for the evening.
DAY 2 - TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK - ARUSHA - ZANZIBAR
After breakfast, we will start with your morning game drive.
Tarangire is a particularly enchanting prospect for bird-watchers, with a massive 550 species of bird calling the park home. These range from the sizable ostrich and Kori bustard all the way down to tiny weavers and warblers.
Predators such as the lion and leopard also call the park home, and lucky visitors might get to see these ferocious hunters in action as the dry season forces herbivores to move closer and closer to the Tarangire River.
After taking a delicious lunch, we'll drive back to Arusha to ensure you make your onward flight.
