Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Details of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Like neighbouring Bwindi Impenetrable, Mgahinga is most known for its gorilla trekking, and is an alternative to those who perhaps cannot get a permit for Bwindi Impenetrable.

Noteable for its impressive views from atop the Virunga Mountains, the park is home to a single family of gorillas who are not guaranteed to be present within the park at any given time – having moved into either Rwanda or Congo.

Golden monkeys can also be tracked within the park, and a variety of boreal wildlife including forest hogs, jackals, buffalos, and elephants are occasional sights within the densely forested park.
