Details of Eleven Day Bush to Beach Safari

DAY 1 - NAIROBI - ABERDARES NATIONAL PARK

Departing from Nairobi after breakfast. Along the way, you'll pass through the pineapple plantations of Thika before arriving in the town of Nyeri for lunch at the Outspan Hotel.

After lunch, you'll transfer to the world-famous Treetops Lodge in the hotel's own safari vehicle. You'll take only an overnight bag to the Treetops, as the rest of your belongings are put under lock and key at the base hotel.

Built at the head of an ancient elephant migration trail that stretches from the Aberdare Ranges to Mt. Kenya, the Treetops Hotel is afforded a spectacular view of an active waterhole regularly visited by elephants, rhinoceros, buffalos, bushbucks, waterbucks, and more. You'l have a leisurely afternoon to relax on the deck and observe the waterhole. Even the evening provides you with game-viewing opportunities, as the waterhole is lit by floodlights.

You'll enjoy dinner at the lodge and overnight there.

DAY 2 - ABERDARES NATIONAL PARK - LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

You'll be transferred back to the base hotel to collect your belongings after breakfast, and then it's time for a drive down into the Great Rift Valley for your visit to the Lake Nakuru National Park.

Once famous for its flamingo population, Lake Nakuru National Park is now the place to see both black and white rhinoceros, large herds of Cape Buffalo, rowdy troops of baboons, and both leopards and lions.

You'll get to experience the park after lunch at your lodge, with a leisurely afternoon to evening game drive taking you on a tour of the park's highlights.

DAY 3 - LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK - MAASAI MARA

It wouldn't be a safari in Kenya without a visit to its most famous park, and you'll depart for the world-renowned Masai Mara immediately after breakfast.

Part of the vast Serengeti plains, the Maasai Mara plays host to a chapter of the famous Wildebeest Migration each year as 1.7 million wildebeest and more than 500,000 zebras and antelopes cross the swollen Mara River in hopes of finding safety on the Masai Mara's sweeping plains. Even when the Wildebeest Migration is not occuring, you'll still have the chance to see the entire Big Five as well as Kenya's largest variety of animal life.

After lunch at your lodge, you'll head out for an afternoon and sunset game drive in search of big cats, elephants, giraffes, and more.

DAY 4 - MAASAI MARA

Wake before the dawn for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness a Maasai Mara sunrise. After a quick cup of coffee, you'll head out into the park to watch as the sun sets fire to the savannah and the big cats take advantage of the morning cool to search for a meal.

Alternatively, you can take to the skies with a hot air balloon safari that will see you soar above all of the action before setting down on the plains for a champagne breakfast among the wildlife. Ask your safari expert about adding a hot air balloon adventure to your safari.

You'll then return to your lodge for a late breakfast before packing a picnic lunch and heading back out into the park for a day-long exploration of the Maasai Mara. You may also opt to relax at your lodge in the morning, enjoy lunch on site, and then head out again in the afternoon once the weather has cooled off a bit.

DAY 5 - MAASAI MARA - AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

You'll depart from the Masai Mara after breakfast for the trip to Amboseli National Park.

It's a long drive today, but your reward at the end of it will be worth it - lunch with a view of Mount Kilimanjaro and some time within the park to look for its famous herds of free roaming elephants.

DAY 6 - AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK

Wake before the dawn for an unforgettable sunrise game drive within the park. Kilimanjaro never looks quite as beautiful as she does first thing in the morning, and you'll also get to see predators such as leopards, lions, and cheetahs out on the prowl in the cooler morning air.

They don't call Amboseli the Royal Court of Kilimanjaro for nothing, and as you take in its large elephant herds and the stunning panorama of Mt. Kilimanjaro, you'll see why this is one of Kenya's most beloved pars.

After your morning game drive and a late breakfast, relax at the lodge for a few hours before heading out into the park again in the afternoon. With the animals largely inactive during the warm midday hours, you can get some rest before catching them out and about in the cooling afternoon air.

DAY 7 - AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK - TSAVO EAST NATIONAL PARK

You'll wake before the dawn for an unparalleled view of Mount Kilimanjaro at sunrise. For those wanting to snap a picture of Africa's iconic elephant herds against the backdrop of the Tanzanian mountain, this is an opportunity not to be missed!

After returning to your lodge for breakfast, you'll depart for Tsavo East National Park - home to Kenya's famous 'red elephants'. So named for the volcanic red dust that they 'bathe' in, the elephants of Tsavo are something unique to Kenya.

In fact, 'unique' could very well be the perfect word to describe the twin parks of Tsavo West and Tsavo East. With their blend of volcanic terrain, palm-lined rivers, idyllic oases, and liquid lava, the park is like something out of fantasy.

A highlight of your visit to the park will undoubtedly be a visit to the Mzima Springs, where a partially submerged viewing chamber allows you to see the wallowing hippos like you've never seen them before.

DAY 8 - TSAVO EAST - MOMBASA

Your safari adventure is done, and what better place to wash away the dust and weariness than Kenya's picturesque coast?

After a morning game drive through Tsavo East, we'll continue on to Mombasa. Nestled on the Indian Ocean coast, Mombasa sits on the edge of a glorious ribbon of silver and sapphire. The region's unique Swahili culture - a fusion of Arabic and African ideas - has created a culture unlike anything you'll find elsewhere in the world.

Spend your afternoon at your leisure - relaxing by the pool, swimming in the warm ocean waters, or heading out to explore the historic port town.

DAYS 9 & 10 - MOMBASA

The world is your oyster! Wake early for breakfast or sleep in and enjoy a leisurely breakfast mid-morning.

Your days are yours to fill: swim in the pool, head out into the ocean for some water sports, play a spot of tennis, sunbathe, go on a tour, or just settle in with a good book on the beach.

DAY 11 - MOMBASA - NAIROBI

All good things must come to an end. You'll bid a fond farewell to the Kenyan Coast before you're shuttled to the airport for your flight back to Nairobi.
