Ruaha Natonal park MIkumi National Park 4 nights 5 days By RoadItinerary DAY 1: Iringa town After breakfast, drive to Iringa town, Stop at kitonga inn hotel for lunch, and then proceed driving to Iringa town for dinner and overnight Iringa is town in the heart of Tanzanias tea industry. On market day you can see a multicultural mix of expatriates, Indians, local Tanzanian businessmen and tribes people fresh from their farms in the bush all coming to town for their monthly trading. If you go shopping here, dont forget to bargain for anything that does not have a price openly displayed. Iring is on the perched on the plateau and around a cliff above the Little Ruaha River. DAY 2: Ruaha national park After breakfast drive to Ruaha national park which is famous for its rare sable antelope, roan antelope and big herds of Elephant.The park represents a transition zone where eastern and southern African flora and fauna overlap. Lunch at the lodge ,than afternoon game drive.After drive to Ruaha River Lodge which is build on a rocky ridge with spectacular view of the great Ruaha river. Nearly 500 bird species have been sighted with the park.The river area features large numbers of hippo and crocodile and attracts lion, leopard, hunting dogs warer buck, impala, giraffe, warthog and eland. Grants gazzele,ostrich and cheeteh may be seen in the plains. The park is also a bird-watcher's paradise with over 430 species. The best time for bird-watchers and flower-seekers is the wets season from January to April, and the best time for the predator and large mammals-seeking visitor is the dry season between May and December. The Ruaha National Park can be visited all year long. A fine network of game-viewing roads follows the Great Ruaha and its seasonal tributaries, where , during the dry season, impala, waterbuck and other antelopes risk their life for a sip of life sustaining water. And the risk is considerable: not only from the prides of 20-plus lion that lord over the savannah, but also from the cheetahs that stalk the open grassland and the leopards that lurk in tangled riverine thickets. Meals and overnight at Ruaha River lodge DAY 4: proceed to Mikumi National park After breakfast, drive to Kitonga inn Lodge for lunch and proceed to Mikumi National park for dinner and overnight at Vuma hill tented camp A great opportunity to see the “Big Five”. The third largest park in Tanzania and is traversed through its middle by the Tanzam Highway that runs between Morogoro and Iringa. The park is best known for its diversity and abundance of wildlife. As well as being replete with game, Mikumi is also an excellent birding destination with over 400 species having been recorded here. DAY 5: Mikumi National park After breakfast, enjoy another game drive in Mikumi National park, which is well known for its population of the Elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebra, elands great Kudu, wildebeest roan and sable antelope. Predators includes lions,leopards,wild hunting dogs and black-backed jackal.You may also see crocodiles,monitor lizards,yellow baboons and hippos. The third largest park in Tanzania and is traversed through its middle by the Tanzam Highway that runs between Morogoro and Iringa. The park is best known for its diversity and abundance of wildlife. The Mikumi National Park has a big wildlife population where you will definitely see the “Big Five”. Many mammals include yellow baboon, vervet monkey, sykes monkey, lion, elephant, rhino, giraffe, zebra, eland, buffalo, greater kudu, bushbuck, waterbuck and Lichtenstein’s hartebeest. For some animals (Elephants, Buffaloes and Zebras) it forms a part of the Selous Game Reserve ecosystem. Very rare tree-climbing Lions can be spotted here as well as Giraffes, Elands, Hartebeests, Impalas, Leopards, Warthogs, Wildebeests and African Wild-dogs!Return for lunch and then drive to Dar to connect flight back home
