Details van Olakira Camp
Camp is following great migration - locations depend on the season:
Olakira Mara River Camp
From June to November Olakira Mara River enjoys one of the most pristine corners of the northern Serengeti; pitched in the tranquil Bolongoja region to ensure an exclusive unspoilt taste of Tanzania. Surrounded by untouched wilderness, Olakira Mara River is located just 300-metres from one of the crossing points used by the herds to traverse the Mara River.
While daily game drives regularly stop at the Mara to observe the dramatic crossings across waters populated by hippo and crocodile, the area offers plenty of biodiversity. The wide-open plains of Lobo and Wogakuria are meeting points for the vast herds of migrating wildebeest; gathering on the plains to brave the treacherous waters of the Mara River and begin the march south. Once the wildebeest move on, topi, eland and smaller antelope return to the grasslands, quite once more.
Olakira Lamai Camp
Many regard the Lamai Wedge as having the most beautiful scenery in the whole Serengeti eco-system. This stretch of savannah sits between the Mara River and the Kenya Border and from June – November is home to Olakira Lamai.
The camp is an easy 20 minutes drive from the Mara River and the dramatic action of the annual wildebeest crossings. The game-rich valleys and plains that surround the camp are home to the big 5 and picturesque Wogakuria Kopjie provides a dramatic back drop.Olakira in the South (December-March)
Olakira Ndutu Camp
As they’ve done for millennia, the herds will eventually answer the call of the Migration and head for the southern Serengeti’s endless grasslands; the perfect place to calve, graze and rest. They won’t be left alone here though: lion and cheetah will follow in their wake to claim their share of the spoils.
And so Olakira Ndutu will follow: in November the camp is closed to visitors as Olakira is dismantled and moved to the south.
From December until March, it is a small shady forest east of Ndutu that Olakira calls home; views of a seasonal stream framing the vistas of iconic grasslands. Officially situated inside the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area (NCCA), it allows Olakira’s highly trained guides to offer drives both within the NCCA and across the border in the southern Serengeti.

Kort overzicht
Olakira Tented Camp in Serengeti was designed to follow the migration throughout the Serengeti ecosystem. In the early part of the year, Olakira situates itself perfectly to witness the great calving of wildebeest in the short grass plains, and in the dryer months, the camp moves to the northern part of the Serengeti to have a front row seat for when the big herds move north. Location: Northern Serengeti from June to November Southern Serengeti from December to March
