Details van Gambela National Park
Located along the banks of the Baro River, Gambela National Park was initially gazetted to conserve its unique wetlands habitat.
A remote and swampy park of immense size (at more than 5,000 square kilometres, it is Ethopia’s largest), Gambela National Park is also home to a huge number and variety of African wildlife.
Described by Lonely Planet as being "capable of rivaling Kenya and Tanzania" for wildlife diversity, Gambela is held back somewhat by a lack of infrastructure that limits exploration.
A park for those wanting to get off the beaten path and out into the wilderness, it’s a paradise for campers and nature enthusiasts.
