Fastest growing town in Kenya

Eldoret is currently the 5th largest city in Kenya and fastest growing town. It is the administrative centre of the Uasin Gishu District of the Kenya"s Rift Valley Province, South of Cherengani Hills.

It was established in 1908 after families of Afrikanaas speaking South African settlers trekked to Uasin Gishu from Nakuru after a journey from South Africa by sea and by rail from Mombasa. Other settlers followed to the nearby farms and an administrative centre was formed.
