Three Day Samburu Special Five Safari
An often overlooked gem, Samburu Game Reserve in northern Kenya offers a truly unique safari experience. Not only is the park home to iconic animals such as elephants, lions, and leopards, but it's also home to the Samburu Special Five - a quintet of five animals found nowhere else in Kenya.
A unique itinerary that can be done as either a drive safari or a fly-in safari, our Samburu Special Five safari gives you the opportunity to spot both the Big Five and the park's 'Special Five' - reticulated giraffes, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, besia oryx, and the Grevy's zebra.
A fly-in safari cuts the lengthy drive out of the equation, allowing you maximum time inside the reserve to look for both the Big Five and the Special Five.

This safari can be done as either a driving safari departing from Nairobi in a safari car, or as a fly-in safari to maximize your time in the park.
DAY 1 - NAIROBI - SAMBURU GAME RESERVE
You'll be picked up from your hotel or the airport.
If you're driving, you'll set off for Samburu Game Reserve. If you're flying, you'll be taken to Wilson Airport to board your light aircraft for the flight north to Samburu Game Reserve.
Upon arrival, you'll enjoy a game drive en route to your lodge, where you'll drop off your belongings and have lunch.
After you've dined and freshened up, you will head out on a game drive in the semi-arid park that showcases the unique wildlife that Samburu is home to. In addition to more 'conventional' safari animal sightings, you'll also have the chance to spot the Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, long-necked Gerenuk and Grevy's Zebra - the famous 'Special Five'.
The park is also home to large herds of elephants, as well as lions, leopards, zebras, and more.
After your game drive, you'll overnight close to the reserve.
DAY 2 - SAMBURU GAME RESERVE
You'll have a full day to explore the park in search of its rarer inhabitants as well as the likes of leopards, lions, hyenas, cheetahs, antelopes, and more. While Samburu is smaller than other Kenyan parks and reserves, its diverse wildlife tend to cluster closer together near the life-giving Ewaso Ng'iro River, making it an ideal place to set up camp and do some game-viewing.
GAME 3 - SAMBURU GAME RESERVE - NAIROBI
Wake up early for a sunrise game drive through the Samburu Game Reserve. The cooler air and low-light are the ideal time to spot hunters such as lions and leopards on the prowl, and the early morning light is also quite spectacular as it sets fire to the landscape.
After a late breakfast, you'll fly or drive back to Nairobi where you'll be transferred to the airport or your hotel.
