Details of Karibu Southern Tanzania - 7 Day Driving Safari

DAY 1: DAR ES SALAAM – MIKUMI

After breakfast, you'll make the drive to the Mikumi National Park. Sometimes called the most accessible corner of Selous and sometimes compared favourably to the open plains of the Serengeti, Mikumi is Tanzania's fourth largest national park and a game-viewer's dream.

The Mkata Floodplain is the park's most dominant feature, and it is here that antelope fans will have their best chance to see the powerful Eland in large numbers. Bird watchers will also find a huge variety of feathered favourites within the park, with more than 400 bird species residing within the park's borders.

DAY 2 - MIKUMI - RUAHA

You’ll have the opportunity to take one last game drive through the rambling wilderness before making the trip to Ruaha.

A forested park with rolling hills and a hot, dry climate that means animals tend to stick close to the water sources. This makes for fantastic game viewing opportunities, and the park’s isolation means it is considerably less crowded.

DAYS 3 – 5: RUAHA NATIONAL PARK

Ruaha’s position as a middle ground between traditional savannah and woodlands means that it provides unique game-viewing conditions.

During your two day-long explorations of the park, you’ll see everything from traditional game such as buffalo, zebra, lions, and elephants to less common sights such as the Kudu, African Wild Dog, and sable antelope.

DAY 6 – RUAHA - UDZUNGWA MOUNTAINS

With a bush breakfast in tow, you'll make the drive towards the African Galapagos - the Udzungwa Mountains. With a huge variety of endemic wildlife and flora, the park is something unlike anything you'll see elsewhere in Tanzania.

Not a traditional game-drive destination, you'll instead stretch your legs with a guided hike into the mountains, where you'll enjoy a picnic lunch by a waterfall before spending the night in the park.

DAY 7 - UDZUNGWA MOUNTAINS - DAR ES SALAAM

After an early morning hike to soak in the serenity, you'll take a picnic lunch along for the drive back to Dar Es Salaam.
