Lukas - Safari Guide

Our Guides: Lucas

Lucas is a natural communicator. He speaks Swahili, English, German, Spanish, as well as countless animal languages!

Lucas uses these skills to get you to the best spots, singing to the wildlife along the way.

Born in the shadow of the Kilimanjaro to the Chaga tribe, Lucas is a student of the world. He is learning every day in the place he calls home, from the nature and wildlife around him, and even from his travelers who come from all over the world, bringing their stories and experiences with them.

"We spent a week touring Arusha, Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngoro Ngoro, etc. with Lucas; the best guide of all! It was a wonderful week full of laughter, incredible sights, and unbelievable animals."

"Lucas knows 4 languages and he is incredibly smart and kind, full of hospitality and warmth. He had a thoughtful answer to each of our questions while telling us jokes, teaching us swahili and overall caring for our wellbeing and enjoyment."

How could someone born in one of the most beautiful places in the world not have a great fascination with everything this Earth has to offer?

Lucas’ favorite animal: elephant 🐘

Coming to an unfamiliar place, far away from your home, you can certainly face some awkwardness. Having a friendly face waiting to welcome you makes everything easier, and certainly Lucas will make your arrival more comfortable. There are many things that an expert guide can do for you. From navigating through cultural differences, to providing interesting and important information about local animals, especially dangerous ones.

Even Lucas, who is also known as Mukubwa (which means “big”), is not really a fan of snakes, especially so for the local venomous types. But he knows exactly how to keep safe around them - this is an absolute necessity for living in this part of the world. He understands and respects the land and all of its inhabitants.

"When we arrived, our driver Lucas was waiting for us in Kilimanjaro airport and we directly had a good vibe with him. After a few days he truly became a friend and one of us, he was not just a driver but he was someone, who travelled with us. We had lots of knowledge and knew almost every bird we saw - and trust me, there is a loooot of birds!"

Lucas’ favorite drink: coffee (his homeland is famous for its coffee!)

Anyone from this region knows how precious nature is. Lucas has a great interest in the geology and history of Tanzania, and, even though he has been here since birth, he is endlessly fascinated by this land of natural wonders.

"Our guide Lucas was the person who made it all a reality, his expertise in wildlife and his kind nature made the trip for us! He knows all the parks like the palm of his hands. He took us to the best spots in each park and in just 3 days we were able to see the big five and more! He speaks multiple languages, he is funny, and great company to be around!"

Lucas is most proud of in Tanzania: peace in the country

Lucas is certainly an impressive person, with his communication skills, his immense knowledge of the natural world, and above all his endless thirst for knowledge. Come and see for yourself and join him on safari in Tanzania!
