Two Day Flamingo Fling
For those wishing to see Kenya's famous flock of flamingos, this two-day itinerary combines a game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park with a visit to their new home, Lake Bogoria.
You'll start your trip with a visit to the geothermally active Lake Bogoria region to see the brightly colored flock of up to 1.5 million flamingos, before exploring Lake Nakuru National Park in search of its leopards, lions, and rhinoceros.
Details of Two Day Flamingo Fling
While the flamingos may have moved on from Lake Nakuru National Park, their new home of Lake Bogoria is just a short drive away from the national park.
Combine a traditional game drive through Lake Nakuru National Park with a visit to the brightly coloured flamingo flocks that now call Lake Bogoria home.
DAY 1 - NAIROBI - LAKE BOGORIA - LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK
Departing from Nairobi after breakfast, you'll make the five-hour drive across to Lake Bogoria.
The new home of Kenya's famous flamingo flocks, Lake Bogoria is a volcanically active national reserve where the massive flock of both Lesser and Greater Flamingo can now be found.
While not a game drive park in its own right, Lake Bogoria is home to a huge variety of bird life as well as Greater Kudu, zebras, cheetahs, buffalo, hyenas, impala, and baboons.
After a hot lunch at Lake Bogoria Resort, you'll drive to Lake Nakuru to overnight.
DAY 2 - LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK - NAIROBI
After breakfast, you'll begin your exploration of Lake Nakuru National Park.
While the park's resident flamingos have since moved on, the park is still home to four of the Big Five (you won't see elephants here) as well as a huge variety of bird life. Your half-day game drive in the park will showcase some of Kenya's most beautiful terrain while you spot large herds of buffalo, families of baboons, both black and white rhinoceros, and even lazy lions and leopards.
After snapping some photos, you'll return to Nairobi by mid-afternoon.
