Acquiring a visa for entry in Kenya couldn't be simpler, with the country recently instituting online applications to make the process easier.

Kenya is no longer allowing visas on arrival, so be sure to apply in advance to avoid an unpleasant airport experience!

Who Needs a Visa?

With the exception of these countries, all countries require a visa to enter Kenya.

Some countries require what is called a referral visa. If you are a passport holder for one of these countries, additional steps are required before attempting to enter.

How to Apply for a Kenyan Online Visa

When applying for a Kenyan visa online, you first need to register an account at eCitizen. From here, you can access a number of government services.

For our purposes though, you'll just need the below:

From here, finding your way to the appropriate place is fairly simple. You'll want to hit Submit Application on the next page , then Kenyan Visa, and then you'll come to this page:

Here, you'll choose either Single Entry Visa (for most visitors) or transit visa (for those landing in Nairobi and taking a shuttle to Tanzania).

The process for both visas is quite similar.

To process your claim, you'll need:

  • A passport with at least six months of validity;
  • A completed visa application form;
  • At least one blank page in your passport;
  • A return (or onward) plane ticket.

You'll also need to pay a $51 fee for your visa, which is $1 more than if you'd applied on arrival.

The process which follows is a fairly intuitive one, with the site guiding you through the various fields you'll need to complete.

The only portion likely to cause trouble is Section 6, which asks you for your supporting documents. Thankfully, that's where we come in!

Just let us know what documents you need from us and we'll gladly provide them!
